Enzymes do more than just sustain life, they are catalysts for virtually every biological and chemical reaction in the body. Without enzymes, life itself could not exist. As we age however, our own enzyme production significantly diminishes. The enzymes we need to maintain healthy joints, a strong immune system, good circulation and overall balanced well-be
ing are less available.

GH - Hippocrates copyAs we begin to mature and these enzyme levels decline, we become subject to enzyme deficiency. This can lead to wide variety of health concerns, including unhealthy amounts of fibrin accumulating in our joints, our blood and veins and throughout our system.

What are “Systemic Enzymes”?

Systemic enzymes operate throughout every system and organ in our body. Unlike digestive enzymes found in the gastrointestinal tract, systemic enzymes create or accelerate biochemical reactions. Basically, they are “agents of change”.

Unlike the digestive enzymes found in the stomach and intestines which are responsible for processing food. Systemic Enzymes are reaction-causing agents allowing cells to regenerate, enable breathing, healing and make other body functions possible. These enzymes work “systemically” or throughout the entire body.

Proteolytic Enzymes

Proteolytic enzymes (meaning “protein-dissolving”) often in the form of Serrapeptase are ubiquitous in nature. They are found in animals, plants, bacteria, and fungi. Human beings produce enzymes to help digest our food, but we also produce numerous other types, which act to control virtually every regulatory mechanism in our bodies. These complex enzymes breakdown and digest proteins into fragments. Recent scientific evidence supports the use of proteolytic enzyme supplements for enhancing digestive function and for speeding recovery from injury/surgery and reducing swelling and inflammation.

Protease is one form of proteolytic enzyme which demonstrates such an ability. Its role is critical as incomplete protein digestion creates problems for the body including the development of allergies and the formation of toxins. Undigested proteins have been linked to many health concerns, including foreign invaders in the intestinal tract. Some of these foreign invaders are parasites. Protease is largely responsible for keeping the small intestines free from parasites. A lack of protease increases the risk of intestinal infection including an overgrowth of the yeast Candida. Protease also delivers the specific nutrients necessary to promote healthy muscle tissue and vibrant immune system function.

Commonly recognized benefits of Proteolytic Enzymes:

Reduce inflammation:

Inflammation is a natural response of the body to injury. However, excessive inflammation can result in painful swelling and slow the healing process. Proteolytic enzymes reduce inflammation by neutralizing the bio-chemicals of inflammation (bradykinins and pro-inflammatory eicosanoids) to levels where the synthesis, repair and regeneration of injured tissues can take place. Reducing inflammation can have immediate impact on improved heart health, arthritis, surgical recuperation and sports injury prevention and recovery. Enzymes can be very useful for managing sprains, strains, fractures, bruises and contusions.

Blood Cleansing:

Proteolytic enzymes are the primary tools the body uses to “digest” organic debris in the circulatory and lymph systems. This process of cleansing the blood of debris can significantly improve blood pressure, circulation and reduce cardio risk factors.

Dissolving Fibrin:

Excess fibrin in the blood can result in blockages and the risk of clots. Certain specialized proteases such as nattokinase are extremely effective at improving the “quality” of blood cells, optimizing the ability of blood to flow through the circulatory system, and reducing the risk of clots. This is extremely important in reducing the risk of stroke. Many patients now use proteolytic enzymes during long plane flights to minimize the potential of blood clots in the legs.

Strengthen immune system:

The primary vehicle the immune system uses for destroying invaders is enzymes. Supplementation with the proper types of enzymes may significantly improve the ability of your immune system to perform its tasks. Macrophages, for example, literally digest invaders with proteolytic enzymes.


Reduction of Bacteria Viruses and Fungi:

Bacteria, viruses, molds, and fungi are protein/amino acid based. Proteolytic enzymes, always most effective when taken between meals, can enter the bloodstream and digest these invaders.

Elimination of autoimmune diseases:

Large undigested proteins can make their way into the bloodstream and form Circulating Immune Complexes (known as CIC’s) which trigger allergies and autoimmune diseases. Supplementation with proteolytic enzymes may remove these potentially dangerous CICs from the body, thereby reducing allergies and autoimmune conditions. This may also kelp with sinusitis and asthma conditions.


Dissolving of scar tissue:

Scar tissue is made of protein. Proteolytic enzymes have the unique ability to effectively “digest” dead cellular matter and scar tissue, while leaving active, living cells intact. This is particularly true in the circulatory system.
